Case Study: Cary Academy achieves more engaging statistics learning and improved class placement with JMP

Cary Academy uses JMP to teach stats and to optimize admissions and class placement

Cary Academy, a private college-preparatory school in North Carolina, wanted to help students better understand how statistics apply to everyday life and improve class placement decisions. The school turned to JMP and JMP Student Edition to support Simon King’s statistics teaching and to bring more data-driven thinking into admissions and placement.

Using JMP, Cary Academy created interactive, visual, and kinesthetic learning experiences that made statistics easier for students to explore and understand. JMP also helped administrators use data and box plots to guide class-placement discussions and compare applicant records for admissions; after three years of the new process, only one student had to be moved for placement reasons, and the approach led to more informed decisions.
