A JMP Case Study
BASF, the world’s largest chemical company, needed to replace phosphates in dishwasher detergents after new regulations limited their use and made cleaning performance harder to maintain. BASF’s chemists in the Care Chemicals division turned to JMP® statistical discovery software from JMP to identify a formulation with phosphate-like cleaning power.
Using JMP, BASF ran multifactor mixture experiments to evaluate combinations of ingredients and model the best-performing options, including Trilon® M. The solution helped BASF find an effective phosphate substitute, cut design time by 75% or more, and deliver a new cleaning formulation now used by dish detergent manufacturers around the world.
