Case Study: Amperex Technology Limited achieves greater battery reliability and faster analytics with JMP

ATL’s embrace of robust analytics and Six Sigma at the enterprise level lays the foundation for increasingly reliable lithium-ion batteries

Amperex Technology Limited (ATL), a Hong Kong-based lithium-ion battery maker, needed to keep up with fast-growing demand while improving quality and reliability across its engineering and production teams. To support enterprise-wide analytics and Six Sigma work, ATL introduced JMP, replacing more manual spreadsheet-based analysis and giving engineers a shared, interactive statistical tool that could also align with customer data systems.

Using JMP, ATL applied reliability analysis, design of experiments, graphing, and other statistical methods to investigate production issues, identify root causes, and optimize processes. The results were significant: engineers reported tasks running about three times faster than with Excel, and one initiative reduced process variance by around 50%. JMP helped ATL improve collaboration with customers and strengthen continuous improvement across the company.
