A prominent ecologist helps shape a more environmentally sound future

The University of Minnesota’s Peter Reich, a leading forest ecologist, needed a way to analyze years of complex experiment data to understand how global environmental change affects ecosystems and the carbon cycle. JMP statistical discovery software from JMP helped him study outcomes from long-term climate and CO2 manipulation experiments in grasslands and forests.

Using JMP, the University of Minnesota team could quickly sort, explore, and analyze large datasets across many variables, from first look through final analysis. JMP enabled faster insights and supported findings that help improve understanding of ecosystem response and inform better environmental policy decisions, with the work showing that long-term, low-nitrogen conditions can reduce plant responsiveness to elevated CO2.
