A JMP Case Study
The Women’s Microfinance Initiative (WMI) launched a program in rural eastern Uganda to provide small loans to impoverished women so they could start businesses and support their families. Its challenge was to clearly demonstrate both the urgent need for help and the program’s impact to donors and supporters, using JMP statistical discovery software from JMP to turn survey data into understandable visuals.
JMP helped WMI’s student volunteers, who had little or no statistics experience, create charts and graphs from borrower data and compile them into a Fact Book for fundraising. JMP made it easy to import spreadsheets and produce clear visuals that helped foundations and corporations understand the hardships and successes of borrowers, contributing to WMI issuing more than 700 loans in 24 months and helping women move toward entrepreneurship and financial independence.
