Electricity North West UK significantly reduced revenue losses impacted by metal theft incidents and flooding

Electricity North West, the UK electricity distributor serving 5 million people across the North West, faced rising revenue losses from metal theft, flooding, vandalism, and other risks across thousands of substations. To better monitor asset status and assess network risk, it turned to Jmix and Stonehaven Technology to build a system around existing business processes and data sources.

Using the Jmix platform as the core technology, the Guardian application was delivered in six months and later expanded with automated incident reporting, integration of open data, geospatial risk analysis, dashboards, reports, and daily risk scoring. Jmix helped Electricity North West significantly reduce metal theft incidents, improve flood warning capabilities, and track enhancement spending, with the project also recognized as a finalist in the 2015 Energy Innovation Centre Awards.
