Standard Chartered, a 150-year-old international bank with ~86,000 employees focused on Asia, Africa and the Middle East, needed better tools for cross‑border collaboration. Its static intranet and fragmented email hindered interaction and engagement, especially as more than half the staff are under 30 and expect social, mobile, real‑time workplace apps.

The bank deployed Jive as an internal hub called “The Bridge,” replacing the old intranet and integrating with Office/Outlook while meeting security and regulatory needs. Within six months over 80,000 employees had signed in and more than 50,000 were active (three times the year‑end target); the platform improved search, reduced duplication, accelerated idea‑sharing and strengthened cross‑company, cross‑border collaboration.
