Case Study: LA Metro achieves real-time TAP payments and seamless rider visibility with Jitterbit Harmony

A Jitterbit Case Study

Preview of the LA Metro Case Study

LA Metro Taps into Real-time Internet of Things Payments

LA Metro, operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, serves 1.4 million passengers daily across 80 stations and 187 bus routes and runs the TAP smart-card program for contactless fares. The agency faced fragmented manual processes, siloed legacy data, one-off integrations and no centralized reporting, which limited real-time account access, balance refills and operational visibility.

Using Jitterbit Harmony, LA Metro connected TAP cards to Salesforce, Oracle EBS, point-of-sale systems, the data warehouse and web/mobile channels to enable real-time IoT payments and account updates. The integration made TAP information available across web, mobile, kiosks, buses and trains, gave staff real-time visibility into rider data, and improved the experience for 1.4 million patrons while orchestrating transactions and unlocking large volumes of historical data for reporting.
