Why Cisco Chose JFrog Artifactory as its Universal Artifact Repository Manager

Cisco’s Build Management Services team was asked to create a common CI/CD environment for its 30,000 engineers worldwide that teams would join voluntarily. The challenge was to support a wide range of build tools and packaging formats—especially RPM/YUM for embedded networking products—while delivering high performance, reliability and easy onboarding across global sites.

Cisco selected JFrog Artifactory for its universal format support and rich REST API, then built a multi-site, replicated and High Availability deployment. Automating repository provisioning via the API cut setup time from 60–90 minutes to about 2 minutes (a 98% reduction), resulting in 4,500 active users, roughly 1,800 man-hours saved in the first year and a resilient, high-performing global CI/CD service.
