ProtonIT, a micro-size firm led by Kalle Launiala, develops The Ball — a full‑stack .NET platform on Azure aimed at lowering the cost and expertise required for digitalization. The Ball’s multi-part deployment (infrastructure accelerators, WebApp, WorkerRole and UI) relied on Visual Studio and console tooling, and the growing complexity of deployment guidance was causing friction for developers who should be focused on building solutions.

ProtonIT adopted TeamCity for its out‑of‑the‑box support for Visual Studio solutions, msbuild/.cmd tooling, powerful build templates, detailed build metrics and free OSS pricing; TeamCity 9’s repository‑stored build configurations (Git) allowed shipping a pre‑created four‑project skeleton. Running on a small Azure VM, the setup made builds reproducible and maintainable, reduced deployment documentation to simple parameter configuration, and let developers build directly from The Ball’s public repo — significantly lowering the barrier to entry.
