United Tribes Technical College Sees Nearly 200% Increase in Retention Rates With Jenzabar Retention

United Tribes Technical College (UTTC), a tribal college in Bismarck serving about 500 full-time students (92% Native American), faced persistent fall-to-fall retention challenges—especially for first-time-ever-in-college (FTEIC) students—and needed better ways to understand changing student demographics and act on retention trends. To address this, UTTC implemented Jenzabar Retention in fall 2015.

Using Jenzabar Retention, UTTC aggregated data across campus, deployed customizable early-alert workflows, revised retention models as demographics shifted, and streamlined communications and intervention relationships. Those changes produced measurable gains—an initial 7-point increase, a later 23-point gain, and after model revisions another 18 points—resulting in a 37-point (195%) increase in FTEIC retention over five years and surpassing the college’s original goals. Jenzabar’s solution enabled faster interventions, better data insights, and sustained retention improvements.
