SmartSense by Digi increases engineering allocation to roadmap by 36% to ship new unified platform to market

SmartSense, a global IoT solutions leader with 50 engineers distributed across teams, needed to build a new unified platform after integrating four companies. CTO Dan Bachiochi required accurate, team-level metrics to decide how much engineering effort could shift from legacy products to the roadmap and to standardize tools and processes, but existing reports were labor-intensive and unreliable — so SmartSense turned to Jellyfish’s engineering analytics platform.

Jellyfish integrated with Jira and other systems to make process standardization and allocation measurable, enabling SmartSense to reallocate resources, onboard a development partner, and move to full‑stack teams while keeping a lean management structure. With Jellyfish, allocation to the new platform rose from an initial 40–55% to a peak of 76% (a 36% net gain) and an average 21% uplift since implementation, accelerating the unified platform release and providing continuous, actionable metrics for predictability and scaling.
