Webteam, a Tallinn-based software and web development firm, was asked by Apteekide Infotehnoloogia OÜ to provide reporting from a large, complex Progress database used by Magnum AS, Estonia’s largest pharmacy stockist. The challenge was to deliver a multi-platform reporting solution that produced PDF, XLS, RTF and XML outputs, let end users tailor reports, and remained cost-effective.

Webteam chose the free JasperReports Community edition for its output flexibility, ease of integration and user-friendly customization, and built a Java utility to pass data from Progress into JasperReports. The solution gives pharmacies real-time views of orders, quantities and stock levels, and proved cost-effective, easy to integrate and simple to use—now reused in other projects with plans to expand Jaspersoft adoption.
