Ericsson Uses Jaspersoft for Big Data Analytics on MongoDB

Ericsson needed a way for operators using its Multiscreen TV Solution to query high volumes of session and usage data after migrating to MongoDB. The company required a BI/reporting engine that integrated directly with MongoDB (including CSV export capability) because their previous tool didn’t support NoSQL queries and would have forced costly dual-database or ETL approaches.

Ericsson implemented Jaspersoft JasperReports Server and iReport Designer to connect directly to MongoDB without ETL, embed reports in the customer portal, and export CSV/PDF/Excel. The solution eliminated the need for a separate relational database (saving thousands in hardware and manpower), enabled self-service ad hoc reporting that delivers insights weeks faster, allowed developers to build reports in hours, and scaled to query terabytes of TV session data.
