A Janus International Case Study
Life Storage faced the challenge of converting a 109-year-old, rundown Chicago building into a modern self-storage facility while meeting city codes and preserving historic elements. Janus International provided customized self-storage doors and wire mesh to work around the existing architectural columns and support the project's unique design requirements.
The solution involved a comprehensive renovation, including replacing unsafe brick, installing new windows, and performing extensive interior demolition. As a result, Janus International helped Life Storage successfully open a 102,837-square-foot facility with 636 climate-controlled units and modern amenities. The project, completed at a cost of nearly $4.4 million, preserved the building's historic Chicago-style architecture while creating a high-end, mixed-use property.
