The customer, Hangar 2, an innovative developer converting a historic airplane hangar, faced the challenge of adapting the massive, atypical structure into a modern self storage facility while preserving its historic integrity and meeting strict building codes. They partnered with vendor Janus International to supply the essential hallway components and roll-up doors for the conversion.

Janus International provided custom-fitted partitions and gloss white roll-up doors that were adapted to the hangar's irregular shape, overcoming installation challenges where the standard modules did not align with the historic structure. This solution contributed to the successful creation of 65,000 square feet of climate-controlled storage. The project, which also integrated significant energy-efficient and solar power systems, achieved full code compliance and opened to positive public reaction, successfully preserving a landmark while creating a community-focused mixed-use destination.
