The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau wanted to increase awareness of Charlottesville-area businesses at the Monticello Visitor Center while avoiding duplicate data entry, tracking simple visitor demographics, providing area mapping and multimedia, and meeting ADA and outdoor durability requirements. They engaged JANUS Displays to create a custom outdoor interactive kiosk integrated with the CACVB’s simpleview content management system for the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center.

JANUS Displays delivered a turnkey solution: a custom interface that syncs automatically with simpleview, a JANUS JMC105 media player with locally stored content, a SunbriteTV 32" all‑weather interactive touchscreen in a cedar pedestal, Bing mapping, multimedia playback and a two-question demographic survey (zip code and party size) that saves results to Google Docs. The kiosk eliminated duplicate data entry, captured actionable visitor data for better-targeted marketing, generated advertising revenue opportunities for local businesses, and earned strong positive feedback—leading CACVB to plan broader deployment; JANUS Displays provided the hardware, software and installation.
