British Council delivers Aptis to 115,000 candidates in 78 countries with Janison

The British Council, a global organization offering English language testing, faced significant challenges in delivering its Aptis exam reliably across over 100 countries, especially in remote areas with poor internet connectivity. Their legacy system was inflexible and unreliable. The COVID-19 pandemic further intensified this challenge by halting in-person testing, creating a critical need for a remote solution. The British Council partnered with vendor Janison to address these issues.

Janison developed and implemented its innovative Janison Replay assessment player, which allows tests to be taken online or offline, seamlessly syncing data when connectivity is restored. This was complemented by their online remote proctoring solution to enable at-home testing. The results were substantial, with over 115,000 tests delivered across 78 countries within the first six months. The solution ensured business continuity during the pandemic and won Janison industry awards for innovation.
