A JAMS Case Study
Alinta Energy, which supplies natural gas and electricity to about 700,000 Australian and New Zealand homes and businesses and operates nine power stations, faced a major data and process challenge: its wholesale, retail and generation units were geographically dispersed, relied on multiple ERPs and billing systems acquired over time, and depended heavily on batch-only data sources. This fragmentation produced non‑standardized, unreliable scheduling across diverse tools and made it difficult to consolidate data and deliver a single source of timely management and operational reporting.
Alinta evaluated options and chose JAMS for its functionality, ease of use, cross‑platform support and extensibility, proving the fit with a POC and smooth rollout. JAMS centralized and reliably automated batch scheduling, enabled near‑real‑time financial updates without extra FTE support, reduced administration to two data stewards, supported trickle‑feeding the data warehouse, lowered risk from large batch updates, and improved overall efficiency, automation and data integration.
