Watercare boosts utility of its field crew’s iPad fleet with Jamf

Watercare, New Zealand’s largest water utility serving Auckland, digitized its maintenance field operations by deploying 200 Apple iPads for its crews, but managing updates, re-imaging devices, and tracking assets in the field became a challenge. The company needed a better way to support its 24-hour field staff and reduce the time required to maintain the fleet.

Watercare chose Jamf and rolled out Jamf Pro after a pilot in 2017 to centrally manage the iPad fleet, push updates and apps remotely, and locate lost or stolen devices. With Jamf, rebuilds dropped from one hour to 15 minutes, software updates could be deployed to all devices at once, and staff could receive timely lock-screen messages and helpful field apps, improving efficiency and communication.
