A Jamf Case Study
Minnesota Independent School District 196 needed a way to accurately inventory and centrally manage computers across 30 sites after Minnesota required standardized testing to be administered by computer. The district also had to track licenses and warranties and prove it had one computer fewer than five years old for every six students, while still respecting each site’s independent IT management. Jamf’s Casper Suite provided the inventory and oversight they needed without creating culture shock.
Jamf implemented the Casper Suite’s centralized inventory, software distribution, Self Service repository, imaging, and policy-based updates to support both administrators and site managers. The result was faster software rollouts, smoother testing readiness, easier troubleshooting, and broad adoption across the district; for example, a critical Friday testing-software update was delivered in time for Monday testing. Jamf also helped Minnesota Independent School District 196 reduce firefighting for support staff and explore new initiatives like a conservation program aimed at limiting downtime and saving energy.
