Delivering Device Management and Security to “Anywhere Learners” in Higher Education

East Carolina University’s School of Dental Medicine, an Apple Distinguished School in Greenville, North Carolina, needed a way to manage and secure a large all-Apple environment across campus and rural clinic sites. With roughly 900 Macs and 550 iOS devices for students and faculty, ECU relied on Jamf Pro to automate device deployment and management while supporting HIPAA and FERPA compliance.

Jamf implemented a combined management and security approach using Jamf Pro and Jamf Protect. The solution automated policy deployment, configuration profiles, OS updates, and device security, while also detecting threats, flagging risky software, and enabling self-service remediation with minimal IT intervention. As a result, ECU can support devices anywhere, maintain compliance, and protect clinical data while its students have treated nearly 68,000 patients across North Carolina and generated more than $1 million in economic impact for local communities.
