A Jama Software Case Study
JIP33, a joint industry program run by the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP), set out to standardize procurement specifications across major oil and gas operators after chronic cost and schedule overruns were linked to thousands of bespoke, overlapping requirements. The program struggled with inefficient collaboration—hundreds of lengthy, company‑specific specs, slow spreadsheet-based review cycles, version control problems, and massive comment volumes (e.g., 1,300 comments on a single draft)—which made consolidating feedback and reaching consensus slow and error-prone.
JIP33 adopted Jama Connect, a cloud-based requirements platform that was quick to implement and easy for global SMEs to use. By centralizing reviews in Jama Connect’s Review Center, the team eliminated version-control issues, tracked reviewer activity, sped onboarding to about two hours, and improved transparency. The result: specification development is now delivered four times faster, with streamlined supplier engagement, reduced rework, and a clear path toward a fully digital, collaborative standards process.
