The Geoportal of Wallonia needed an INSPIRE-compliant overhaul to make the Region’s geographic data and services openly accessible and to federate multiple GIS applications. To achieve this, the Walloon Public Service selected Jahia and its CMS/platform to integrate business-specific applications and geographic components through OGC-standard web services, simplifying content editing and site management.

Using Jahia, the team designed, developed and launched the new geoportal in nine months at a total cost of €120,000, delivering the MetaWal metadata catalog and the WalOnMap viewer in a user-friendly portal. The Jahia-based solution doubled monthly unique visitors from 10,000 to 20,000 (a 200% increase), enabled INSPIRE compliance and streamlined operations so a four-person editorial team can maintain the site.
