Western Ontario Adds JAGGAER Spend Analytics for Holistic View of its Spend

Western University, one of Canada’s leading research institutions, faced the challenge of managing nearly CAD 450 million in spend across diverse research and operational units while encouraging busy deans and department chairs to use preferred suppliers. To gain visibility into hidden savings and drive compliance, Western expanded its existing JAGGAER suite by adding JAGGAER Spend Analytics to complement its Mustang Market eProcurement platform.

JAGGAER implemented Spend Analytics (live March 2017) to cleanse, normalize and consolidate nearly 24 months of spend data with monthly refreshes, enabling “opportunity scorecards,” supplier optimization and targeted supplier negotiations (one effort aimed to drive 75–80% category spend to a preferred vendor). The result: Western has already saved more than the suite’s implementation cost within two years, has demonstrable shifts in spend toward prime suppliers, and plans to extend analytics to AP, travel and P‑card data for a truly holistic view — all delivered through JAGGAER.
