Sorgenia Bioenergie builds a unique procurement function with JAGGAER

Sorgenia Bioenergie, the Italian leader in electricity from vegetable biomass with three power plants recently brought together under one ownership, faced the challenge of unifying disparate procurement practices after acquisition. To build a single, consistent procurement function that could support budgeting through post-contract management and prioritize sustainability and innovation, Sorgenia Bioenergie selected the JAGGAER supplier management solution in 2019 to harmonize supplier assessment and onboarding.

JAGGAER deployed a vendor management platform combining ex‑ante vendor category assessment (a 16‑KPI questionnaire) and ex‑post performance reviews, creating a shared, transparent supplier profile and continuous lifecycle monitoring. The solution gave Sorgenia Bioenergie standardized processes, objective supplier scoring, better risk mitigation, stronger sustainability screening and improved supplier relationships (including partnerships for wood-ash recovery), enabling quicker, more consistent procurement decisions across all plants.
