JAGGAER Powers Procurement at Suntech, Powering a Green Future

Suntech, a Wuxi‑based leader in crystalline silicon solar cells and PV modules with shipments exceeding 25 GW, faced rising competition that exposed weaknesses in its procurement: no formal sourcing or supplier‑management processes, limited visibility into projects, and no mechanism to drive compliance or cost savings. To transform procurement, Suntech selected JAGGAER and adopted the JAGGAER ONE SaaS platform alongside JAGGAER Professional Services to localize the solution for China and support change management and category design.

JAGGAER implemented the cloud platform, redesigned roles and category classifications, and delivered a roadmap from “as‑is” to “should‑be,” going live in June 2012. The solution gave Suntech centralized visibility and supplier traceability, supported just‑in‑time material flows into manufacturing, and expanded sourcing across logistics, auxiliary materials, graphite and services. Results include RMB 10M (~US$1.6M) savings in the first full year, support for 70 buyers working with over 2,000 suppliers (1,800 tenders issued to date and ~600 negotiations annually), and a stronger, more competitive procurement function — delivered by JAGGAER.
