Case Study: Carl Zeiss achieves a streamlined, automated global supply chain with JAGGAER

A JAGGAER Case Study

Preview of the Carl Zeiss Case Study

Carl Zeiss Focuses on the Supply Chain

Carl Zeiss, a global leader in optics and optoelectronics, faced a complex, highly distributed sourcing landscape across six branches and 13 largely autonomous business units. To standardize and flexibilize logistics and purchasing processes while preserving local autonomy, Carl Zeiss engaged JAGGAER and its eSolution capabilities (eSourcing, WebEDI and VMI integrations) for a companywide logistics transformation to improve supplier communication and relieve the Purchasing department.

JAGGAER implemented automated SAP-to-portal order flows, WebEDI for delivery schedules and ASN, and a VMI module that shares inventory, limits and forecasts with suppliers. The central JAGGAER platform documents processes end-to-end, enabling real-time order tracking and shorter processing times; about 30% of European ordering volume now runs through JAGGAER. The result was reduced per-order process costs, more efficient goods receipt, and freed-up buyers who can focus on strategic sourcing.
