SCAN Health Plan launches claims data APIs with J2 Interactive and InterSystems IRIS for Health

SCAN Health Plan, a major not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plan, faced a challenge in meeting new federal data sharing rules (CMS 9115). They needed to implement an Enterprise Service Bus to manage APIs for claims data access. To address this, SCAN selected J2 Interactive as their implementation partner and deployed the InterSystems IRIS for Health data management platform.

J2 Interactive conducted a requirements discovery, established the IRIS infrastructure, and designed the application. They used FHIR to extract, transform, and load member and claims data into a new server, enabling access via a Patient Access API. This successful integration allowed SCAN to meet interoperability requirements and positioned them to pursue further integrations of clinical data from Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) with J2's ongoing guidance.
