The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Florida faced a storage challenge with its research data being spread across multiple direct-attached systems, creating chaos and making large-scale analysis difficult. They needed a centralized, easy-to-manage storage solution that could be handled by graduate students without command-line expertise and that fit within their research budget.

iXsystems provided a solution using TrueNAS, which offered a flexible web interface for simple management and the ability to easily scale storage capacity. The university deployed three TrueNAS systems with a combined ~155TB of capacity to centralize their data. This allowed researchers to easily access and analyze data from a single location via SMB shares. iXsystems also provided expert guidance and white-glove support throughout the process, ensuring a successful implementation that met all their specific needs.
