iXsystems provided a solution using two TrueNAS storage appliances: an all-flash TrueNAS Z50 for their most intensive databases and a hybrid TrueNAS system for additional vmware hosting. The implementation eliminated the weekly outages, allowed for maintenance with zero downtime, and dramatically improved performance. Database restore times were nearly tripled, and windows VM backup times were almost twice as fast.
