A large government department, one of the United States' largest employers, faced a significant storage challenge. Their previous Hitachi SAN solutions could not handle the performance and capacity needs of their large-scale virtualization environment. They required a VMware-certified solution with 24/7 support to minimize both planned and unplanned downtime, all while staying within the strict budget of public funding. They turned to iXsystems for a solution.

iXsystems implemented multiple TrueNAS High Availability systems equipped with 400TB of usable storage each. The solution provided robust performance, multiple levels of failover, and integrated with vSphere using VAAI to offload storage tasks. As a result, the department could support nearly ten times the number of virtual machines compared to their old solution, handling a much heavier traffic load while ensuring data integrity with OpenZFS. iXsystems provided crucial on-site support, and the entire solution was delivered at a substantially reduced acquisition cost.
