Christian Healthcare Ministries scales to 130+ VMs with iXsystems TrueNAS

Christian Healthcare Ministries, a healthcare cost-sharing organization supporting nearly half a million members, faced challenges with its evolving infrastructure. The organization relied on a small HPE SAN and an external managed service provider, which offered limited redundancy and unclear scalability. To gain control and professionalize its storage, the customer needed to replace its aging NetApp and Dell EqualLogic systems and bring its operations in-house.

iXsystems provided a solution built on TrueNAS enterprise storage systems, including F60, M40, and R50 models. This new, standardized backbone allowed Christian Healthcare Ministries to scale confidently, growing its IT team from 10 to over 60 people and its production virtual machines from under a dozen to more than 130. The implementation by iXsystems delivered predictable performance, built-in replication, and a structured refresh plan, establishing a mature and owned infrastructure.
