Evaluating Wireless Broadband Gateways for Deployment by Service Provider Customers

Leading Wireless Services Providing Company needed to evaluate two wireless broadband gateway options for home and business deployment, with a focus on delivering strong voice, video, and data performance under real-world conditions. The company worked with Ixia and its IxVeriWave Wi‑Fi test systems to measure throughput, latency, packet loss, and overall quality of experience before broader rollout.

Ixia’s WaveTest/IxVeriWave solution enabled repeatable, automated testing across multiple traffic scenarios and clients, cutting test cycles from 4–6 weeks to about 1–2 weeks. The results showed both gateways had room for improvement: one achieved only 51% of intended traffic load and 32% successful forwarding, while the other reached 44% of intended load and 26% forwarding, helping the provider identify performance gaps, reduce support costs, and speed time to market.
