Cisco Reduces Testing Costs and Eliminates Complexity in Development of Next-GenerationFirewall/IPS

The customer, Cisco, faced the challenge of reducing time-to-test and cutting QA costs for its next-generation ASA security devices. To develop its firewalls and IPS products, Cisco's testing process required multiple tools with different interfaces, which was complex and inefficient. Cisco implemented the BreakingPoint solution from vendor Ixia to address this.

Ixia's BreakingPoint device replaced multiple testing systems with a single, scalable solution that could emulate real-world network conditions, applications, and live security attacks. This allowed Cisco to streamline its engineering processes, drastically reduce testing time, and validate the performance of its ASA 5585-X, which could handle over 20 gigabits per second. The solution from Ixia enabled Cisco to bring new products to market faster while adhering to strict quality assurance standards.
