BYD Automobile Company Limited, one of China’s largest automobile manufacturers, needed to move from an older CAN-based network to Automotive Ethernet to support faster, more modern in-car communications while reducing production test time and costs. To make the transition safely, BYD worked with Ixia and used tools including IxNetwork with AVB testing and IxANVL for automotive Ethernet validation.

Ixia implemented an end-to-end testing solution spanning Layer 1 through Layer 7, along with supporting test equipment, to validate physical layer performance, protocol conformance, and AVB functionality. The result was a 50% reduction in test time, cutting testing from two days to one, and the successful shift to the IEEE standard also helped reduce BOM costs by replacing older, harder-to-source CAN-compatible parts.
