The Trust for Public Land (TPL) is a national conservation organization with more than 30 field offices and a small central prospect development team supporting a large fundraising staff across the U.S. As a cause-based organization without a built-in constituency, TPL needed a better way to find new donors and prospects in the local areas where its projects and fundraisers are based. It turned to iWave to help with prospect research.
Using iWave, TPL’s prospect development team searched across more than 40 databases to identify prospects outside its existing database, cross-referencing real estate holdings with donation and affinity data. This helped the team uncover donors passionate about land conservation and green space in specific project areas, giving fundraisers better-targeted leads across the country. The case study does not report a numeric ROI, but iWave clearly improved TPL’s ability to prospect nationally with a lean team.
