Ector County Library wins support for a new facility with The Ivy Group after 80%+ of residents backed a lifelong learning center

The Ector County Library faced significant challenges with an outdated and inadequate facility, instability in its governance, and a disconnect between substantial community needs and the level of county support. To determine if a new building was necessary and to better understand community aspirations, the library's advisory committee engaged The Ivy Group to perform a holistic community needs assessment.

The Ivy Group implemented an inclusive, bilingual engagement process to gather broad community input, which formed the basis of a comprehensive report with actionable recommendations. The study successfully shifted the focus to the library's function, established a clear need for a new facility, and built crucial consensus. As a direct result, the Ector County Commissioners approved selecting a site and hiring an architect, the advisory committee was made a permanent library board, and a new director was hired, setting the library on a path toward a new future.
