Start of Operations in Record Time with Integrated Planning Software

Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland GmbH needed to launch operations for the 575-kilometre Saale-Thüringen-Südharz rail network in a very short time frame after winning the contract in 2012. To set up its new rail operation from scratch, Abellio required a high-performance planning system with strong automation and optimization capabilities for vehicle and staff planning, and turned to IVU Traffic Technologies and its IVU.rail software.

IVU Traffic Technologies implemented IVU.rail in just 10 months, enabling timetable, duty, roster, vehicle working, and dispatch planning to begin by April 2015 ahead of the December launch. The integrated solution automated large parts of planning and dispatch for 35 vehicles and more than 350 employees, improved disruption handling, supported settlements with five public transport authorities, and created a fully digital workflow from mobile time recording through to payroll accounting.
