A IVU Traffic Technologies Case Study
MÁV-START, the Hungarian state railway operator, needed a better way to plan and dispatch locomotives and personnel across its nationwide rail network. With processes still heavily reliant on paper, Excel, and isolated self-developed applications, the company wanted to improve planning quality, increase efficiency, and create a more integrated way to handle disruptions. IVU Traffic Technologies provided the IVU.rail suite to support this transformation.
IVU Traffic Technologies implemented IVU.rail as a central, integrated planning and dispatching system in just 9 months, rolling it out in phases across Hungary. The solution unified timetable, duty, crew, run, and vehicle dispatching, added realtime vehicle data for faster disruption response, and supported MÁV-START’s move from decentralised to central planning. As a result, MÁV-START replaced redundant processes, reduced interface complexity, and gained a more efficient operating model for both personnel and vehicle deployment.
