BUS Ostschweiz, a local public transport operator in eastern Switzerland serving more than 8 million passengers a year, wanted to simplify planning, handle employee requests more easily, and improve route and duty schedule planning. The company had already been using IVU Traffic Technologies’ IVU.suite for vehicle and personnel planning and decided to expand its use with duty schedule optimisation.

IVU Traffic Technologies introduced IVU.duty as a pilot project, integrated into BUS Ostschweiz’s existing IVU.suite environment, enabling automated and scenario-based duty scheduling through familiar planning tools. The result was schedules that were several percent more efficient than manual planning, with faster adjustments for timetable changes or roadworks and more reliable data for offer planning, leading BUS Ostschweiz to move the solution into productive operation.
