Efficient Planning and Dispatching with Standard Software

SBB Cargo, the freight transport division of Swiss Federal Railways, needed a better way to plan and dispatch staff and vehicles across a highly volatile rail freight operation. To replace multiple legacy systems and reduce IT complexity and costs, the company chose IVU Traffic Technologies’ IVU.rail standard software for integrated resource planning and dispatching.

IVU Traffic Technologies implemented IVU.rail for timetable, duty scheduling, crew, vehicle, and dispatch management, along with employee self-service via IVU.crew.mobile. The solution automated planning and improved adherence to working-time rules, while giving SBB Cargo a single integrated process from long-term planning through day-of-production changes. As a result, SBB Cargo improved resource utilization, simplified processes, eliminated printouts and notices, and can now update and view roster information in real time across the organization.
