Niederbarnim Railways (NEB) needed to manage a rapid expansion from 2 to 10 lines and from 10 to 33 railcars in just three years, while keeping the same number of planners and dispatchers. Its spreadsheet-based approach could no longer handle the complexity of decentralized operations, larger fleets, more crew, and the need for better communication across the workforce. IVU Traffic Technologies provided the integrated IVU.rail solution, including planning, duty scheduling, crew management, and vehicle dispatching, along with an employee portal.

With IVU Traffic Technologies’ IVU.rail, NEB replaced spreadsheets with a single, market-proven system for timetable planning, vehicle and staff scheduling, payroll-related processes, and decentralized crew communication via mobile devices. The solution also uses RailML interfaces for smooth data exchange with other systems. As a result, NEB was able to support 11 lines and prepare rosters for 215 drivers and train attendants with the same planning and dispatching team, improving operational efficiency and employee satisfaction.
