An Integrated Planning and Dispatching System for Ten Operating Regions

PostBus Switzerland, the country’s leading public bus operator, needed to modernize an outdated planning system and replace highly decentralized processes across 10 operating regions. With different local workflows, multiple planning centers, and growing competition, the company wanted to standardize planning, clarify roles, improve efficiency, and secure long-term competitiveness. Vendor IVU Traffic Technologies provided the IVU.suite platform for planning and dispatching.

IVU Traffic Technologies implemented a standard IVU.suite solution without custom development, using modules including IVU.timetable, IVU.run, IVU.duty, IVU.crew, and IVU.vehicle. The system enabled integrated vehicle and personnel scheduling, automatic personnel dispatch, and more consistent Switzerland-wide processes, while supporting regional rules and interfaces to surrounding systems. As a result, PostBus improved planning quality and efficiency, reduced costs, and established a unified infrastructure for 4,000 employees, 2,200 vehicles, and 152 million passengers per year.
