North Shore-LIJ Health System Uses Video Conferencing and Streaming Video to Improve Standard of Care

Northwell Health, then known as North Shore-LIJ Health System, wanted to improve collaboration among its geographically dispersed physicians so they could share information more efficiently and avoid time-consuming travel between hospitals and facilities. To support this need, the organization worked with IVCi to expand its video conferencing environment using Polycom video conferencing equipment and best practices, along with Accordent streaming video solutions.

IVCi implemented and updated the health system’s video conferencing strategy by installing numerous Polycom VSX systems in conference rooms and auditoriums, while Accordent streaming software archived sessions for on-demand viewing and testing. The result was broader access to lectures and multidisciplinary case discussions, increased participation from physicians across specialties, stronger sharing of medical expertise, and improved standard of care for patients.
