Case Study: Battery Park City achieves centralized disaster security monitoring with IVCi

IVCi Covers Battery Park City with an AV Integrated Security Blanket

Battery Park City, a large mixed-use area in lower Manhattan, needed a more reliable centralized security system after 9/11 exposed major communication failures during emergencies. Working with IVCi, and with support from Derive Technologies, the Battery Park City Authority sought an AV and security integration solution that would help staff monitor multiple locations and respond quickly to incidents.

IVCi designed and installed a customized system that connected camera feeds over IP to desktop/laptop computers and three large plasmas at security headquarters, allowing up to 12 sites to be monitored at once with picture-in-picture and touch-controlled layouts. The intuitive Crestron GUI made the system easy to operate in a crisis, and Battery Park City reported that IVCi delivered a state-of-the-art security system with strong training and support, helping make the disaster management project a cornerstone of lower Manhattan’s security initiative.
