Reducing Windows Logon Times by 78% and Driving VDI Program Success

El Camino Hospital, a nonprofit healthcare provider with campuses in Mountain View and Los Gatos supporting over 3,200 employees and 1,500 physicians, was implementing a VMware Horizon View VDI project but faced long Windows logon times (up to 1 minute 30 seconds), roaming clinicians who required location-based printing, and complex desktop personalization needs. To address these challenges they engaged Ivanti and deployed Ivanti Environment Manager alongside their VDI environment.

Ivanti implemented Environment Manager to apply policy at application execution rather than at startup, cutting Windows logon time from 1:30 to about 20 seconds (a 78% reduction), enabling dynamic, location-based printing, and preserving personalized user environments. Ivanti’s solution also simplified administration—reducing custom scripting needs by about 75% and lowering the number of images and pools to maintain—while delivering a consistent, secure desktop experience.
