Logistics Server Provider Keeps Applications on the Right Track

Vos Logistics, one of the largest international logistics service providers with about 5,000 employees across 30 European offices and a fleet of more than 3,000 trucks, struggled with unresponsive applications, frozen sessions and 100% server loads after centralizing applications on Citrix. Their critical, self-developed Lovos transport-management application would run away and require server reboots; Vos needed to standardize desktops while preserving a personal user experience and to troubleshoot issues with a very small IT team. They engaged Ivanti and deployed Ivanti User Workspace Manager, which includes Ivanti Performance Manager.

Ivanti used Performance Manager to limit Lovos’s CPU consumption and User Workspace Manager to centralize user settings and stream applications to XenApp servers. The result: runaway processes are under control, server reboots and frozen sessions have been eliminated, and the Ivanti investment paid for itself within a few months. Ivanti also enabled standardized, locked-down Citrix desktops, automatic printer/device mapping, easy rollback of settings, fewer XenApp silos and reduced support costs, allowing a two-person IT team to manage the environment effectively.
