A Ivanti Case Study
Deakin University, which supports about 53,000 students and 4,200 staff across multiple campuses and online, faced inconsistent desktop experiences—long and variable logon times (sometimes 10+ minutes), frequent profile corruption (over 600 help-desk calls annually), reliance on roaming profiles, heavy group policy use, and loss of desktop personalization. To diagnose and fix these issues, Deakin engaged Ivanti and evaluated Ivanti Insight and Ivanti Environment Manager.
Ivanti ran a proof-of-concept with Insight to gather endpoint data and deployed Environment Manager to replace roaming profiles and apply granular settings. The initial 300-machine rollout cut logon times by about 90%, eliminated profile corruption (addressing roughly 600 IT man-hours per year), and produced individual improvements such as a drop from 15 minutes to 15 seconds for one user—prompting Deakin to expand the Ivanti deployment.
