Deakin hardens its shield with Ivanti

Deakin University faced the ongoing challenge of protecting 4,000 employees and 50,000 students in an increasingly virtual environment while strengthening its cybersecurity posture and meeting the Australian Signals Directorate’s Top 4 Essential 8 controls. To address these gaps, Deakin chose Ivanti, using Ivanti User Workspace Manager, Ivanti Application Control, and Patch for SCCM as part of its “Deakin Shield” security program.

Ivanti implemented automated application whitelisting, privilege management, third-party patching, and real-time reporting through Ivanti Xtraction to help Deakin harden its defenses. The results included mitigated cyber security threats, compliance with the ASD Top 4, faster patch visibility, and a major reduction in reimage requests—from an average of 12 per week to far fewer manual support visits—saving IT time and improving overall security.
